Our platform is an open source project. We are heavily engaged in the open source community and actively push forward the development of Eclipse SWTChart, Eclipse ChemClipse and OpenChrom®. We own the trademark “OpenChrom”, that’s why the project is developed under the name “ChemClipse” at the Eclipse Foundation. It’s the same code except that OpenChrom® contains additional functionality which we can’t get through the strict IP review process of the Eclipse Foundation. Being active Eclipse committers and offering open source software allows us to get easily in contact with many different people. Furthermore, it’s a fantastic source of ideas and reminds us each and every day to think about the question “What can we do to make it better?”. Sure, we also offer commercial plugins on top of OpenChrom® to enable users to work with specific workflows. But the philosophy remains to be same: Let’s try to do as much open source as possible. Our commercial engagement helps us to make the open source version better each and every day. Thus, we found a balanced way to pay a team of developers as well as to embrace and to help the community.

We are heavily committed to open source software and love it. In many ways, open source makes a difference. It’s only one part of a companies strategy but an essential one. It reminds us to be open for external ideas. Furthermore, it reminds us that we are standing on shoulders of giants. Our company uses Linux and many open source tools and libraries.

Furthermore, we are engaged in the Science Working Group. The aim of the group is to focus on scientific and analytical software.
